The Minor Civil Division (MCD) Committee was approved at the August 20, 2009 WIGICC Council meeting.   Goals:

• Identify and document legal authorities, technical and business processes, policies, and data models associated with MCD boundary datasets (tabular and spatial) that currently exist.
• Identify opportunities to resolve data inconsistencies and reduce duplication of effort associated with the creation, review and maintenance of MCD boundary data. 
• Develop a standard data model for a “general purpose” statewide MCD GIS layer.
• Identify and build processes for creating, maintaining and accessing a statewide MCD GIS layer.
• Identify and resolve associated non-technical data sharing issues.
• Help the WIGICC Council define its role in such initiatives.
• Project documentation serves as a “road map” for future efforts to create statewide GIS layers.
